Rudd says Australia will host 2009 Pacific Forum: "PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd has announced that for the first time in 14 years Australia will host the Pacific Islands Forum in 2009."
Oh hoorah!!! The sad fact is the people of the Pacific think we don't care about them and that we are not a part of the Pacific. It was interesting to see the school books in Vanuatu with the Pacific map and NZ was there but Australia wasn't. We have been seen as obstructive, negative and unhelpful...and too full of a misplaced sense of self importance. I am so pleased that the forum might be held here because it makes us part of the Pacific again and it will hopefully allow us to be viewed as friends.I'm glad Kevin Rudd has taken the initiative and tried to show we do want to be part of the Pacific.
