Secret painkiller drug scourge

Secret painkiller drug scourge : "A spokeswoman for Nurofen Plus manufacturer Reckitt Benckiser today said all packaging clearly stated that no more than six tablets should be consumed within 24 hours and the drug should not be used for more than three consecutive days without advice from a doctor."

BEX all over again. I remember my Mum and her friends talking about how people were getting addicted to BEX powders and how they were depressed and not doing their housework. Mother's little helpers ride again. Yes, people need to follow the instructions, but codeine is pretty powerful stuff and seems a bit freely available. My concern is that we have got people who are now in misery because of codeine addiction, but codeine can make you pretty weird in the head as well. My friend's father kept imagining things on it and they had to swap his pain killer. On the up side we now know and once we know we'll start to rally and take action. I'm glad I found this reported in the news. We need to know about these things and we need to do two things...remind people to stick to the instructions and then to know what the outcomes are if they don't. We can tell from just this article that it's pretty disruptive and serious...like any substance abuse. It's a sign we've grown up that we haven't tried to hide away from it. It's an issue we can tackle as a community now. Says something about us as a society if we want to get hooked on codeine.
