School reports going electronic

School reports going electronic: "This would give parents access to 'frequently-updated information on children's achievement, progress, attendance, behaviour and special needs wherever, whenever they want, using password-protected, secure, online systems'."

I can understand the worry about security, but we do online banking, so the reports ought to be able to be nailed down. It would certainly save paper...carbon...but then people might be able to tamper with the reports and create their own version. To me, the idea has merit because it's probably quite a handy way of keeping up with your child. The workload , security and tampering issues all need to be clarified but I'd love us to actually have a paper free world! Computers seem to create more and more and we have to bite the bullet at some stage and dispense with paper. It is a nightmare trying to file it all.
