Police use capsicum spray against fans at Australian Open

Police use capsicum spray against fans at Australian Open : "Police believed they were leading racial chanting against Chile's Fernando Gonzalez."

It didn't look good so it's not the answer. I can understand our police wanting to shut down racist taunts and maybe the TV/surveillance cameras will give a clearer picture of what was going on so we can think of plan B for next time...hopefully there isn't a next time. We don't like it when people come to our country and then they have to put up with nastiness and taunting as they go about their business. We want them here as guests and we want them to be treated with respect. The police are copping a hammering but I think the lack of compliance with a reasonable request was probably the trigger. If you treat people with respect and then you don't get co operation it means your authority is undermined and I guess people might be trying it on lately with the police. I should hate to think we shall have awful police..really authoritarian , scary police. I'd rather we had the sort of police we have who usually manage things quite well. So, this was an implementation dip in managing difficult people and we need to get the facts together and then sort it out. I thought Fernando Gonzalez was very cool about it and took it all in his stride and just thought that was what crowds do. It means he is grounded and we are not . The police were following up complaints so they got put into the situation and , of course, it's difficult to negotiate with a crowd. It marred the tennis . I should hate to think we shall have to play some matches in camera. It's just nasty and very unlike us but who is going to believe that?
