More pre-teens hitting the bottle

More pre-teens hitting the bottle : "'You only have to look at the coverage of New Year's Eve celebrations. Everywhere you looked people had a drink in their hand,' Mr Dillon said.

'It's reinforcing the whole idea that being an adult and having fun means that you have to have alcohol, and that's pretty sad.'"

Well, people drink on New Year's Eve. Let their hair down a bit...this coming form someone who had a nice glass of wine with dinner and who toasted in the New Year with Perrier. This was not a champagne year for me. Normally, I have a glass of champagne. It's the balance and it's about rituals and social ease. No one is at ease if kids are getting zonkered and no one is getting the balance right if they are so drunk they have no idea what they are doing. It's about our boundaries and social customs and if we have no social boundaries for adults and children then we need to stop claiming we are successful. Destructive behaviour is not a sign of a healthy society and kids who are on a destructive path need to stop being indulged and ignored. A healthy society is not self destructive, but it is not the alcohol which is the problem, it's the excessive behaviour and lack of limits. That's people out of control. Why is that?
