Migrants flunk citizenship test : "But new Immigration Minister Chris Evans confirmed yesterday the Government would review the citizenship test in light of the poor test results and could make wholesale changes."
It was a dopey scheme to start with. Now we have evidence. I think it is probably better to check "values" and "suitability" , if that's what we want to do more along the lines of how you put together your identity points. I think you need a list of criteria you want that person to meet. Rattling of facts isn't going to mean anything. Understanding English, knowing we don't accept abusing women, being able to flop comfortably in thongs...and smiling so we can see your spirit, is what we need, really and I am sure we could put some other logical things in there. I think it's right and proper to have a rite of passage into Australia but a test? Your workplace would be able to endorse you are Australian in spirit as would your school. I think endorsements make more sense if we want to formalise this.
