SA daylight saving proposal 'a Trojan horse'.

SA daylight saving proposal 'a Trojan horse'. : "'It's to try and sneak this in and make it a fait accompli that we have Eastern Standard Time, but we really need to answer the question: Do we want Eastern Standard Time or do we want True Central Standard Time?'"

All the other comments aside, because they seem irrelevant to me, the question is extremely pertinant and that is what we should consider. What evidence do we have that shifting to EST would be of benefit to us in SA and what evidence to we have to suggest it would be deliterous? It really is about working out the effect it is likely to have, then deciding yes or know. If we say yes we then need to have a reasonable trial period because what sounds good in theory can be fraught with difficulty in practice and I am conscious of that at the moment. We made what seemed to be a really great decision at work. Now we have implemented it there are all sorts of practical reasons not to continue. We could not have foreseen the practical implications...and they are really daft, I tell you. The daylight saving issue has been discussed on and off for a while, so I do not see anything stealthy about it. In my conversations we have often had thoughts along getting us to line up with EST...or not and then discussed what we see as the pros and cons. For me personally I can see some real advantages to be at the same real time as the eastern states. We need to look at it openly and discuss it widely. In South Australia nothing is set in concrete because the community is very quick to voice its opinion and act swiftly if changes or mooted changes are not what we want. It is a state which listens to us.
