Medicare claims to be made at doctor's

Medicare claims to be made at doctor's : "'A patient who pays to go to the doctor will be able to pay in whatever manner they normally do now and then will be able to claim their Medicare rebate through the EFTPOS network at the point of service,' Medicare deputy CEO Rona Mellor told a senate estimates committee today."

About time!! It saves time, energy, stress and trees! My private fund can be claimed immediately and I just pay the difference at the place I am accessing the medical service. If it worked that way for Medicare too it would be great. No paper. No fuss. It saves petrol. It saves human energy and global energy and when you are being treated for something, then costs often need to be covered quickly and waiting for the cheque can hold up the bank balance. I think it's a great idea...It will cost jobs though. That's not good. I think we need to look at where those jobs will be re invented. Our society is changing and the jobs are changing with it. Cold comfort for those in transition unless we can show where the new jobs are and what they are.
