Craig Stevens

There is more to Craig Stevens than meets the eye. He is the swimmer who gave up his place in the 400m so that Ian Thorpe could swim in Athens. He also swam the 1500m last night with Grant Hackett and trailed by very little. Okay, Grant Hackett is still coming to grips with his shoulder repairs. Craig Stevens could match him and keep up with him and I know in the long term losing by a bit is losing by far too much. I have watched the 1500m so many times and it's hard to watching without picturing Kieren Perkins just streaking out ahead of everyone so easily.Australia provides us with some real marvels to behold. Grant Hackett has had to train hard to become the legend he now is. Last night there was a real sense that Craig Stevens was about to emerge as yet another legendary Australian swimmer. His day will come and he has earned his fame and fortune. He is just so nice and so dedicated!
