Countdown to Christmas
This is probably the most relaxed I have ever been coming up to Christmas. I took the time to plot and plan and make it come together slowly so that I wouldn't have the feelings of pressure and inadequacy I normally do. I have one more shop to go and that's to get the last minute food. I have prepared the paté, potted cheese, shortbread, pudding, cake, lebkuchen, marinated cheese. I'm skipping mince pies this year and have sourced some great sausage rolls so I am not making those either this year. I spent one really hot day going through Christmas recipes and really enjoyed putting the menu together because it's at my place. Food magazines are a big help!!Especially because they suggest wine as well which is not my strong point! Some presents I have made and others I have bought and I wrapped a couple every day and really enjoyed making them look nice. I have just made a point of taking my time and enjoying everything. I used to rush, rush, rush and then feel like it was all too much. I am probably actually doing more but I feel like doing it. It's my attitude. I've alsready had some nice meals and present sharing and I have spent some good time with friends and colleagues. I've written to all the rellies and now I'm up to the emails!! It's this time of the year I realise how spread out and sprawling my network is, but it's a nice thought I am contacting people in different countries. A very nice thought. The cultures and countries we have are so special...so I think I am just about there!!! Phew!!
