Children face bans

AdelaideNow... Children face bans:

"CHILDREN under 10 will be banned from entering public pools unaccompanied, under rules to be considered by Royal Life Saving SA next month.
All children under five also must remain within arm's reach of adults when in the water, while those aged 11 to 14 must be regularly monitored."

Working means parenting has less time and being taught to parent isn't happening because working parents are not able to show their nurturing skills. I think it's a shame we have reached this point that we have to tell parents to look after their children. It most likely hasn't occurred to them that they are not. They would be thinking about what they have to do and then thinking there are other people there. Communities used to look after each other. More and more others in the community are being required to take on the supervisery , nurturing roles and some of those are not equipped to do it nor do they have the time. I think we need to look at how these things are coming about and remembering that we have had working parents for quite some time now and so the care of children may well have to be a community effort. Children, too, need to be taken back to the basics of safety and keeping themselves safe. I just think we have taken things for granted and have forgotten times have changed.
