Iraq war poll questions skewed, Downer says. :
"The Lowy Institute for International Policy has found 84 per cent of those surveyed believe the war has not reduced the threat from terrorism."
It's a blood bath. A constant, inhumane blood bath. 24/7. No one is the winner. No one is the loser. It is a constant loss of valuable lives. 24/7 death and maiming for everyone. Having the courage to stop it is not surrendering. What a load of tripe that is. To think that we, as a civilised nation, could actually stop and think and do something differently would be the decent thing to do. Everyone is dying or being maimed. How can stopping it be stupid? How would you feel if that were happening here? You'd be angry if it were your children, your land, your life. It would make you angrier because there is no way of stopping it. Just put yourself in their skin for a moment. Their children. Their lives. Their mothers and fathers. Brother and sisters. Would you be glad? Would it make you feel as though you needed to fight back? We idn't surrender in Vietnam but we did work out if was costing too much financially and in terms of loss of life. How much is Iraq costing? It's a constant drain of life and money. Are nations so rich they can keep pouring money in? Intelligence beats terrorists. Good intelligence wins and it works. We need to just put the weapons away and work this out logically. Killing? Where has that got us? Nothing has changed. The deaths go on and the sadness abounds. So coming up with a way of moving this forward towards peace would be the strength of any government.
