Row breaks out on official visit

Row breaks out on official visit :

"But it was as if Deputy Opposition Leader Jenny Macklin forgot they were there when she accused Prime Minister John Howard of “deliberate Americanisation” of the university system."

I don't think our parliament should be censored in what it says because we have visitors. That would then be intimidation and quite clearly our new American ambassador is not about that. We have to dicuss things as we see them and we have to say what we want. At various times we have complained about the way our country has become non Australian whether it is because we are following the British pattern ( and I notice no one complains then nor is anyone gagged) or too much of an Italian influence or too much of this influence or that. Comments about our British influences can be scathing and totally unfounded but who cares. Now, for heaven's sake. We don't have Mum and Dad visiting. This is complete nonsense.
