Parents to face illicit drug test order

AdelaideNow... Parents to face illicit drug test order:

"'We make no apologies for the tough stance,' he said."

Me either because I do not think drug dependant parents are able to parent even if they mean well and have no intention of being poor parents. Addiciton is addiciton and then there are the parents who deal and produce drugs. There are plenty of sad stories out there and until we get people off drugs and turn ourselves around, then we need to look after the children. The problem is government agencies for child protection are swamped. Who will look after the children? Will the children see saw backwards and forwards as the parents clean up then spiral down again. As we make these decisions, let us ponder how a bureaucracy will actually deal with this and what ramifications it has for the children. In a community, there is a way of protecting and looking after children. We do not have a community. That phone ad where the parent is talking to his child on the mobile from work says it all. We really do kid ourselves.
