Opals take out world championship. :
"Australia were crowned women's world basketball champions for the first time overnight, with Penny Taylor's 28 points leading the Opals to a 91-74 victory over Russia in the gold medal match in Sao Paulo."
This is fantastic news because the Russian team is not an easy team to beat. Our Opals have a huge following and we are enormously proud of them. They are classic sports women who are fantastic role models for us all. Their positive, optimism is always refreshing and their level of expertise is clear. Great news!!
