RSPCA to get more for dog education

RSPCA to get more for dog education :

"'Practising responsible dog ownership and ensuring our pets are well cared for can help reduce the risk of dog attacks in the future,' he said.

'People need to ensure their dogs' welfare needs are met. They also need to make sure their dogs are properly trained and restrained.'"

Our life style has made it difficult for dogs and people to live harmoniously. I grew up with dogs everywhere. They were always around. We knew which ones to avoid and which ones to pat. We also got harassed by some and it was Dad who would go and speak with the owners. It was all very one on one. I have also visited countries where the dogs are around all the time. The kids love it and the owners know where their dogs are and in a community everyone knows whose dog is whose. Many people work full time and so many dogs are kept in a confined space. They are fed, watered, walked and played with most of the time, but our new neighbour is a classic example. She moved in with 2 dogs. She goes out all day. Is out several nights a week. I have never heard her speaking to the dogs or playing with them. They are fed and they bark, bang on the fences and sheds and are just a nuisance. They are nice dogs but they are too confined and have no interaction with the community or anyone. I think they must have gone because it's been awfully quiet around here and there is no sign of them. She leaves them out at night too, so they bark all through the night. Guarding. Well, in communities where the dogs roam, they are quieter. They are friendlier, they are more socialised. Our dogs are kept locked up and then probably go mad wjhen they do go out. You can keep a dog happy and healthy. You need to keep it happy and you need to keep it company one way or another. I have always had a dog and I have always worked, but my dogs have never been complained about and they have always plenty to divert them and plenty of space and then lots of interaction. They also have company most of the time one way or another. The RSPCA is the obvious body to look at this since they probably get the bulk of the problems and know what they are. I have got my last 2 dogs from the RSPCA for this reason...they know the dogs and I can then give them a good home.
