US calls for law on video games

The Australian: US calls for law on video games :

"It says the FTA will require the Government to review arrangements for supply of blood products to hospitals by the end of this year, to improve access for US competitors."

A free trade agreement is about that...preferential trade with another country...so that your products are viewed favourably in their market and vice versa. You agree to change tariffs or consider their goods. I cannot believe free trade means we get US blood as a preference. If we need US blood, then yes, we would look to them as a market since we have a trade agreement with them. Same as our pharmaceutical patent provisions. We put that in because we have our way of doing things. I agree with the US about games and the games market. I found the High Court decision very odd, but then, courts can be very pure in their interpretation of the law. It's about us having trade partners where our goods are considered and can compete. I don't think we have asked the US to change their way of operating to accommodate them, have we? Questioning each other is fine, but I don't think we can be told we have to accept goods from anywhere. It is FREE trade...you choose. Or have I got this all up the creek? Don't worry, we are looking at Telstra because we have seen one of our most robust , confident companies go up the spout and round the twist. It's been a complete bungle and we can no longer trust anything.
