Thorpe pulls out of Games.

Thorpe pulls out of Games. :

"An ill-looking Thorpe made the announcement at a press conference in Sydney this afternoon, where he confirmed he had been suffering from bronchitis and a viral infection since February."

If he has been ill this long then it would be impossible to swim to the best of his ability and foolish to push an already ailing body. He needs to recoup his health. Ian Thorpe is a legend. He always will be a legend and if he is struggling now, it takes nothing away from what he has accomplished in life and in the pool. He is one of a kind and is probably learning now what it is like for we mere mortals. He has given us hours and hours of exciting swimming. He is sick and must first deal with what is ailing him. Sad, but he is not well and he is not happy. That comes first ahead of all the wishes we might have of seeing a legend hit the pool for us. Kieren Perkins also suffered some delilitaing health issues and it was part of the making of the legend of Kieren Perkins to watch him grind through all of that back to glory. There are some good swimmers on our team and Ian Thorpe will be a great inspiration and mentor to them I am sure.
