Edmistone sets world record in heats

The Australian: Edmistone sets world record:

"JADE Edmistone became the first swimmer to set a world record at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre this morning, lowering her 50m breaststroke mark in the heats of the Commonwealth Games selection trials."

Jade has launched herself into our lives since that first record breaking swim in the heats leading up to the Commonwealth Games. It's a bit of a sad thing to say but since some of our legends are not able to be at the Games we are actually getting to notice all the talent we have. It sounds bad because we don't want legends to feel unwelcome but the truth is they dazzle us all and are so awesome we do feel very privileged to be living in the the same place and time as they are, truly, but "great" just gets ignored in their luminary performances. So Jade has caught our attention and tonight we shall all be able to be there for Liesel Jones who has come through her awkward phase and is now the powerhouse of swimming she was destined to be. And doesn't she look so well. The games have been great and those Canadian gymnasts have been fantastic.
