Yotels

CNN.com - Goodbye mini bar, hello mini room : "Each soundproof cabin will contain a sofa that converts into a double bed, a pull down desk, closet space, adjustable mood lighting, a shower, wireless Internet, an iPod connection and a flat-screen TV.

Check-in and check-out will be automated, but food and drinks will be available."

10 square metres is about 5 tall guys by 5 tall guys. The Yotels seem to be for emergency, short term accomodation which is conveniently located at airports, or for down time. I suppose if you are a hurried, stressed, pushed around , rushing business person they will seem like luxury because they are designed to be handy and like caravan accommodation but slightly more upmarket. For 95 AUD a night - 70 American dollars, I am not sure it represents value for money. I would want to see them! Sometimes the way I travel, it is easier to save time and space on accommodation so the money can go elsewhere. Other times I want great accommodation because that's part of the trip. The mini rooms may well serve a purpose in terms of being functional but allowing you to direct funds elsewhere. I am curious to see if they appeal because cabin accommodation can have its appealing side.
