China brings wool out of the doldrums

The Advertiser: China brings wool out of the doldrums :

"The fast-growing Chinese textile industry and rising affluence of its people also have placed the wool industry on the verge of a revival. 'We're pretty confident the industry has a good future with China looking increasingly exciting,' Mr Ashby says."

I can't believe people are turning away form natural fibres. They breathe and wool, both sheep and alpaca, is brilliantly versatile and hard wearing. Synthetics don't last and they mark and distort more easily. Last time I was flying I was sitting next to this couple and we had a great conversation about all sorts of things. We were talking about plane crashes, as you so to cheer yourself up while you are flying, and the lady was talking about a plane crash she had read about where the Mongolian people on board had survived and were not hurt or burnt. They were wearing layers and layers of natural fibres which had protected their bodies from excess heat, cold and conditions. Everyone else had been wearing flammable synthetics and clothes which couldn't trap warmth nor protect their bodies from hazards. It made me believe in natural fibres even more...and I shall layer myself when I fly...look out for the yetty in wool next time you're on a plane!
