Atomic clock

News in Science - Tick-tock goes the atomic clock - 01/09/2005:

"Australia's clocks officially go atomic from today.

New national laws, which come into effect from 1 September 2005, have moved Australia to a new time standard based on the super-accurate atomic clock."

Don't tell us, will you? We are five days into atomic time in Australia and I have found out by a chance drift towards the science news on the ABC site. Okay, so nothing has actually changed , they say, but we are no longer guided by GMT incase we are out by several thousandths of a second...so how will that be a problem except for the time pedants? So, by law we now have atomic time in Australia. Nice to know. What do atomic clocks sound like?
