PM calls for swift action on Hicks

The Advertiser: PM calls for swift action on Hicks :

"Mr Hicks suffered a serious blow today when the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia endorsed the controversial military commissions set up to prosecute him and other 'war on terror' inmates at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba."

I thought the hearings had been deemed inappropriate under international law? I believe various academics from different countries had said they couldn't go ahead under international law and that was why there was this hold up. Doesn't international law count for anything or have they made it legal in America so that they can fast track the case? I just hope Mr Howard can sort something out with Mr Bush, but the truth is, it should not be like that in a democratic society. Tangling people's sanity and health in legality or position really isn't how it should be and how we would expect our world to be running in 2005.
