Man with a mission

The Advertiser: A pledge to save lives :

"His privately funded website, set up last year, features safety agreements that can be signed by young drivers, families and peer groups. It also advocates advanced driving courses for young drivers and their parents."

Hoorah! Change is action and this doctor clearly has the courage of his convictions, as we all should, because far too many kids are dying on the roads or maiming and killing others. We have to act to bring about change.

At the weekend, though, we had a kid who was hijacking trams. We only have one tram line currently. He is obsessed with trams and has been steling them and driving them!! I guess in the olden days theri were kids who were obsessed with being a train driver and we don't seem to have that sort of world anymore. Kids who were obsessed with trains could see them in the museums, sometimes get a ride with the train driver, work in the train yards. That sort of kid is rare , so I don't quite know what can be done with a kid who is obsessed with our trams. He should be mentored perhaps, and sponsored somehow, because a burning desire can often turn into big dreams and we are talking about expanding our tramlines in Adelaide. I hope we do. I love trams. Far preferable to buses!
