Back yard blitz

NEWS.com.au | Shell-shocked natives :

"The red-eared slider turtle, an introduced pest which attacks native turtles and fish, was spotted in a backyard in Blair Athol, near Campbelltown, last week.

There has been a colony of the feral turtles in the Georges River for at least nine years but, since Blair Athol is about 10km from the river, it is considered unlikely they are the same turtles."

They talk about the slider turtles having had a feral colony on the Georges river for 9 years and this turtle was found in a surburban back yard.....and then they lost it. People used to keep them as pets but they are banned now. Why didn't they tackle the feral turtles in the Georges River? That is such a beautiful area of Sydney. Apparently no one has particularly owned the problem. They might now!!
