Iraqi women in 'national crisis' since invasion : "The report also found that 76 percent of the women interviewed said that girls in their families were forbidden from attending school."
This is one of the silent tragedies of the invasion of Iraq and it's another thing we have totally discounted and dimissed. By "liberating" them we have turned their women back into the dark ages. Iraqi women were well educated, enjoyed freedom and were some of the most articulate women in the world. We have done so much damage and it needs to come out into the open, because while the boys are playing with the toys they have paid no heed to the impact on women. We don't hear about it. It's not important and, from their point of view it just plain doesn't exist. 2008 and all's well, heh?
