Pulp mill effluent may not flush away

News in Science - Pulp mill effluent may not flush away - 05/10/2007: "Environmentalists argue the mill should be a dioxin-free design of the kind operating in Scandinavia. And controversy continues over the mill's impact on air pollution, greenhouse emissions, native forests and fishing."

You do have to wonder what has come over our leadership because we are the only ones who can seem to see the problem with the mill. Other countries and places in Australia are polluted and contaminated because production has just gone ahead, money has been made and the environmental and human consequences have been ignored. I do wonder where some people's heads are at because this is totally irrational behaviour. You don't pollute and contaminate where you live. It just doesn't make sense. Then we have to look at the massive push from Malcolm Turnbull and then the attempt to deflect the blame elsewhere. Again, quite illogical. Peter Garrett has come under fire but what about the Wilderness Society? The silence from those who ought to have something to say is decidedly odd so I'd say there is more to this than meets the eye. Things are not what they appear. Dig beneath the surface and all of that. Then there seems to be some remarkable progress and willingness to look at schemes and methods of making this mill state of the art environmentally friendly. It's true, we could come together and work out ways of producing what we need with out fouling and desecrating our planet. It could be a good challenge. But the Tamar Valley? One of the most beautiful places on earth? What is the matter with these people and where is our leadership? Again, we are our own leaders ....everyone else seems to have rocks in their heads!
