Sick kids to get high-tech portable medical files. : "Assistant Professor Graham Reynolds says children suffering from diseases such as cancer can have files of up to 40 pages, and if one detail is missed the consequences can be damaging."
What a sensible idea. Even though it passes the workload our way, when we are dealing with long term illnesses and treatments and are ususally party to a number of different consultants and health care arenas it would be such a relief to have one data base which health care professionals are familiar with and which families update according to the the software. The CDs / flash drives can also then become disease specific and offer helpful advice, tips, information and links to recommended sites on the web. It would be a good idea for people with mental illnesses because of diagnosis, medication, treatment programmes and places can start to add up over time. To have that all logged and then to have the contact numbers and links would streamline that as well. A flash disk is easily portable as is a CD. These things could be copied and kept with the person. Fantastic idea.
