Clinton and friends go to town on the environment

Clinton and friends go to town on the environment: "Mr Clinton got five of the largest global financial institutions - ABN AMRO, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan Chase and UBS - to pledge $1 billion each in finance for the program."

This is such an achievement. Firstly, some significant businesses are using their profit to improve the planet immediately. Secondly, they will find this will repay them in one way or another because we are so in need of action and we need people to get these sorts of initiatives going. We won't forget. Melbourne is going to participate in this particular programme and it's a good idea and a good Australian city to use. Whatever we learn there can be improved for Sydney and sized down for places like Adelaide. It will have a snowballing effect and we shall learn as we put the whole thing into place and practice. This is the best news I have heard because Bill Clinton and his sponsors are going to start something we badly need to be a part of. We are sick of the hot air. We need action. The time for talk is past and the only thing from here on in will be dialogue about what improvements we can make and what else we can do. Sydney is going to build on the Earth Hour I blogged about. This year it will turn the lights out for New Year and save carbon. It won't have it's usual fireworks so the planning of a lights out evening will create opportunities for new ideas, initiatives, imagination and creativity. It is so time for a change!
