Iraqi, Afghan Women in Washington

Iraqi, Afghan Women in Washington To See U.S Democracy Firsthand:

"The president and first lady Laura Bush, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Karen Hughes are among U.S. policymakers who will meet with the Afghan and Iraqi woman leaders."

So, how did it all go with the Iraqi and Afghan women on March 8th for International Womens' Day? Did they enjoy seeing democracy in action? Are the democratic women also going to share the culture and the heritage of the lands the women come from? Iraqi women had a real position of respect are incredibly well educated and articulate. They are wonderful thinkers and have such a capacity to discuss issues in a very frank and well considered way. I have not heard many Afghan women speak. The ones I have heard seem to have less freedom to express their view, but that may be the cirumstances under which they were talking. It's always difficult to judge and understand from a distance.
