Xenophon 'genuine'

The Advertiser: Xenophon 'genuine' :

"'He is the only politician I would say is genuine; the only one who is willing to go out on a limb and he is the only one who listened to what I had to say,' she said."

South Australia would be duller and more tired without our independent Nick Xenophon. He brings issues the public has a concern about in front to the media. To accuse him of being manipulating and populist means he must be successful because politicians are only attacked and called names when they are being successful. It's an old, worn out strategy. Sticks and stones stuff. Mr. Xenophon became very popular because he has a committed No pokies stance since the increase of these machines has created more misery for families. They are everywhere and given 10% of the population will become addicted to something, it is something we do need to think about. He keeps us thinking. He presents clear cut, well articulated arguments. He speaks his truth. He is able to counter argue intelligently, so to be jealous of him is probably understandable. To try and malign him doesn't make sense. We have a range of good MPs in SA who don't come out with the party line and who will discuss things sensible. I think they need to be encouraged to keep it up. If we don't agree, we are free to air our thoughts. It's a sign of a healthy, mature leadership model.
