Howard only 1.5% from being PM again : "The Australian Electoral Commission says the Coalition ended up with 47.44% of the two-party vote after strongly outpolling Labor in the record 2.5 million postal, pre-poll and absentee votes counted after election night."
Well, at one election Kim Beazley won the seats but didn't get to be Prime Minister....and the last 3 elections have all been about postal votes and each time it becomes more and more. Very odd. Rewatch the election night coverage. I lost count of the number of times the Liberal candidates harped on about the postal votes. On and on and on. It was really weird because Labour didn't mention it once. So what is it with these postal votes and why do we have so many and how come they favour one party? And don't give me one of those plausible explanations which we know are rubbish. I am so over the plausible explanations when I am constantly the one being manipulated , ripped off and diminished. It strikes me as peculiar to say the least. Bottom line? I have had a gutful of this sniping politics and the ridiculous comments. Kim Beazley was told he was a loser when he damn near won the 2001 election...and then there was the oddity of having more seats and not enough to govern. In the mean time all we get is stuff to put holes in people and we have had over 10 years of pot shots. For heaven's sake move on and start talking more positively and do something about these postal votes because I want results on the night and not some catch up down the track at some stage which skews everything. The fact is, Labour won and we need to get on the same page instead of going back into the past. Howard has gone but he leaves us with the legacy of Iraq, work place agreements, rising interest rates, petrol prices we can do nothing about ,a lot of people out on the street and a city where the inhabitants were uninvited.. Now, let's move forward in a more positive frame of mind instead of pickedy pick picking all the time. All that has done is depress the hell out of people and make them stressed and turned off. We have criticised and denigrated so many options. There is more than one person and one party which can run this country.
