Beaconsfield survivors to speak at safety conference

Beaconsfield survivors to speak at safety conference: "'The combination of launching the documentary and having a live interview on stage with Todd and Brant, we believe will just bring home to the 600 delegates the importance of getting things right,' he said."

Bit of an understatement really, those two talking about health and safety. The whole country was on edge. The whole country was working for them. The whole town of Beaconsfield gave everyone a job to do. It was an extraordinary story and their friend and co worker, Larry Knight, did not survive. It was extreme health and safety and it relied on every single person getting it perfect, not just right. It relied on those two having the emotional guts and fortitude to survive such a mine collapse. It's an extreme case, but mining brings about extremes and I should imagine they would have a lot to offer. It is important to have very safe conditions and then a plan to manage the extremes. Much of it was goodwill and creative energy to come up with unique plans for dire circumstance and it was critical for the two of them to keep each other emotionally stable and then for the psychologists and case workers to keep them emotionally stable. Yes, the essence of it does need to decanted and packaged as useful competencies.
