Hunt is on to find new markets for whale meat

Hunt is on to find new markets for whale meat :

"Japan has announced a new marketing push for its most unwanted export: whale meat.

A new company, with a sales target of 1000 tonnes per year, started work a few days ago. But finding someone, anyone, to buy it will be a challenge."

Why would you try and sell something no one wants, not even the Japanese. Why would you try and make people eat something they are not interested in when there are other , more palatable alternatives? As far as eating traditions are concerned, well, I dread to think what my ancestors ate. Probably bread made with opium poppy and hemp seeds because they were freely available. I don't want a last millennium diet. No. They ate disgusting things...but there were not so many of them and they didn't decimate the planet eating. They lived in societies. We do not and must therefore be more mindful of our environmental impact as we eat. Those who will not eat whales are saying they would rather see them alive and abundant. Too abundant and yes, maybe we shall try and and go down the path as the wallaby eating push. But whales are not in over supply.
