Vegemite to stay onshore: Kraft :
"'The sale of Vegemite is not on the radar screen,' Kilsby told The Australian newspaper.
'Vegemite is the icon product for Australian consumers.'

Why are we not surprised?? I have a grown up daughter who still spreads toast on her vegemite!! Most other people cannot take the taste at all. My latest coup was a French woman who thought she was going to visit Australia and leave our fair shores without tasting vegemite! I bought her a little jar and she was compelled to taste some with her lunch...which she did very gingerly and then we planned the unltimate surprise she could spring on her husband - petit déjeuner à l'australienne - Australian breakfast - Weetbix, toast and vegemite, orange juice and tea/coffee. Miam, miam. She didn't have the heart to do it to him, that is how much other people value one of our most sainted products. No wonder Kraft is leaving it here. Yes, I like it, I like Marmite too. There's no explaining some people. I would not, however, use either of them to make stock or gravy.
