Green groups urged to rethink emission reduction targets.

Green groups urged to rethink emission reduction targets.

: "'We, in fact, had at the summit countries that represented just under half the world's population and just under half the world's greenhouse gas emissions and those governments and businesses have committed to a strategy that will result in zero emission power plants, for example,' he said."

I cannot believe anyone who is voicing an opinion about trying to stay clean, green and realistic can look like they are the ones who have lost it. We heard on the news this group of industrialists who had met in Sydney had agreed to reducing their greenhouse emissions by 30% over the next 50 years. To give her her due, the news reporter gave this information in a very balanced way. We,on the other hand, couldn't contain ourselves. The laughter exploded out of us and the comment was... like 30% over the next 50 years is really going to help. I do sometimes wonder where these people have their heads. Oh, sorry, forgot. Profit. Not people. How many nations have signed the Kyoto protocol? But what we are doing is better. Humans know far better than nature and it's okay to pollute the planet and get rid of the damn trees because they are only making a nuisance of themselves. How on earth did Nature manage without us on the planet? Seriously, I still believe even people who are making money at a great rate of knots can come up with some fancy ways of reducing pollutants. I thought we'd actually got to the stage where we'd realised a clean , healthy environment was much better for us.
