Americans study dykes

I heard a report on Radio National today about a group of American experts who will be going over to the Netherlands to study their dyke and gate systems to manage flooding. It was an excellent report because the American man was explaining how some of the Dutch had been over to New Orleans to look at the damage from the bursting of the levees and how then it was clear the countries had something in common but that America was the one who could learn form the expertise of the Dutch because they had got the system down to a fine art. It's what I have said before. No one nation can be brilliant at everything, but we do need to learn how to share our knowledge and skills. We also need to learn to ask. The man interviewed said they currently had 3 proposals for the rejuvenation of New Orleans and they needed to further their knowledge before they committed themselves to a plan of action. I hope the trip to the Netherlands is productive and that we shall be able to see the people of New Orleans happy and well back in their own neck of the woods...and safe! I haven't been able to find a reference to that interview or the visit to the Netherlands...I don't feel a failure, but I prefer to check my facts!!
