Rapping Buddhist Monks

The 49-year-old monk writes a blog, runs a dial-a-monk help line, a Buddhist radio program a la Billy Graham, and — most recently — has set Buddhist sutras to rap music and performed — backed by young and hip professional musicians — in his 420-year-old Tokyo temple.

They look upon themselves as messengers. If people won't go to them, then the monks are going to the people...on their ground , in their way. These Japanese monks think the message is more important than the medium and so are prepared to bring their message to others in the way that works...modern day communication.
