Sad sack
I am very sad at the moment. I have lost one really close family member and nearly lost another and am hoping we can get him into a better set of circumstances. It has been really, really hard and I shall be in damage control for a while yet. I thank you all for continuing to visit my site and hope to come back soonish. What a breath of fresh air to get up in the morning to hear cheerful leaders with positive plans and who just talk away to us. I realise we had become stale and lifeless. It's great to have such enthusiasm and fluidity. It'll help a lot of people to feel better because we have literally been dying from the strain and pain of non stop oppression. Everyone is cheerful and Julia Gillard has been welcomed very enthusiastically from what I have been hearing. It's great to see a woman up there doing her bit so well. Please look after yourselves ,all of you. We need a better world.

US considers closing Guantanamo Bay
US considers closing Guantanamo Bay: report: "The United States Government is considering closing its detention centre at the US naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and granting detainees substantially greater rights, The New York Times website reports."
About bleeping time. Time to get into the new millennium and out of the dark ages. For as long as it is there it is a symbol of our lack of capacity to create a constructive way of dealing with difficulties.

Australia scores badly on emissions growth report
Australia scores badly on emissions growth report - : "Australia's emissions grew by more than the combined increase in emissions by Britain, France and Germany, which have 10 times our population."
No, our emissions record is not good because we have hardly scratched the surface. That is why we have been getting agitated. We knew we needed to be actually doing and we know that we actually can. We need the leadership which will get us into the right lane. I'm glad to see us get the facts out there.

Ben in rehab, says dad
Ben in rehab, says dad : "'Finally, I would like to add that I have learned that rehabilitation is a complex and arduous process that requires continual review and is best dealt with in private. 'The ill-informed comments and the harassment by the media and others will not assist his rehabilitation.'"
I think we do need to remember Ben does have a Dad, and family and friends and that is something the media does need to be mindful of because a lot of people are being pushed to the edge for no good reason as far as normal people can see. This is Ben's father and he sounds pretty strained, frustrated and at wits' end. He is a Dad trying to come to grips with the reality of his parenthood. That is his son Ben. To a lot of people Ben Cousins is a footballer whom they have all watched. He is someone we all know. I don't know why they said he was missing. Media hype to draw attention to Ben? While we think of him as Ben and while Ben's Dad is getting stressed out by it all, maybe they didn't mean to be hurtful. Maybe they were trying to lighten it up and it went wrong at this end. That's the problem. You do not understand sometimes that you are doing a lot of harm. We do have some good ties with LA. I think we just need to remember people can only take so much.

Plan for Canberra to go solar
Plan for Canberra to go solar: "SOLAR-POWERED Canberra households could be paid four times more than they are now for the unused electricity they sell back to the power grid."
It makes sense. It's good for greenhouse emissions, it's renewable energy, it helps the householder and it helps the general population. We need to do this sort of thing and have a much more flexible, inventive approach to energy ( and hopefully water) because we are a country which can do it, we can get the ideas together and the public support and we are able to trial things in areas to see how they go. We need to do something because we are well and truly ready for it. We want to be moving forward .

Crikey founder takes on Costello
Crikey founder takes on Costello | The Australian: "'The reason that we (Australia) are the world's biggest gamblers is because our states have a very narrow revenue base and they've desperately turned to poker machines in particular to fund schools and hospitals,' he said."
Look out is all I can say because crikey.com doesn't miss a beat or a trick and it does create a forum where people take a fresh look at things. Already, Stephen Maynes' look at our gambling and poker machine headache is a different look. We need people who can think differently because they promote discussion and ideas. If we have the sausage factory approach to everything we keep grinding through the same old muck in the same old way.
